House Republicans advanced fiscal year 2027 appropriations language this month that includes several provisions affecting LGBTQ-related federal policies.

The proposed measures include restrictions on displaying Pride flags at certain federal facilities and limitations on some LGBTQ-focused State Department programs. The legislation has not received final congressional approval.

The U.S. Supreme Court declined April 20 to hear a Massachusetts case involving whether schools must notify parents if students use different names or pronouns at school.

The decision in Foote v. Ludlow School Committee leaves in place a lower-court ruling supporting school discretion in handling student gender identity issues.
